Nelly

Welcome Nelly – Nelly redux! – this time redesigned top down and in the round, with minimized shaping, I-cord trimming, and slightly belled sleeves for some extra fun.  Her Lace – Alternating Leaf – is uncomplicated and easy to remember.  Charts are included for each size and all shaping (around the neckline, armhole and sleeves) to ensure pure knitting bliss.  Enjoy!

Shown in Chickadee wool by Quince & Co. (100% wool; 181 yds per 50g skein); color – Rosa Rugosa #134; 6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10 skeins, or for comparable yarn, approx 1050, 1175, 1290, 1400, 1525, 1650, 1775 yds / 960, 1075, 1180, 1280, 1395, 1510, 1625 m.  
I always have additional yarn on-hand for swatching.

Needles
US5 / 3.75mm or size to obtain gauge
• 1 24 to 36" / 60 to 90 cm circular (circ) – choose length shorter than bust measurement
• 1 20 to 24" / 50 to 60 cm circ for upper bodice
• 1 16" / 40 cm circ for neckline trim
• 1 set double pointed (dpn) or preferred needle style for working small circumferences of the sleeves in the round

US6 / 4.0mm or one size larger than above
• 1 set dpn or preferred needle style for working small circumferences of the sleeves in the round

Notions
• Stitch markers, to mark round and indicate lace repeats (varying colors helpful)
• Tapestry needle
• T-pins for blocking, blocking wires optional

GAUGE (after blocking)
• 24 sts and 32 rows to 4" / 10.2 cm in Stockinette stitch (given as gauge reference)
• 22.8 sts and 32 rows to 4" / 10.2 cm in Alternating Leaf Lace pattern

SKILLS REQUIRED
Long-tail CO, Knitted CO, circular knitting, decreases (ssk, k2tog, p2tog, p2tog tbl), increases (yo, m1L, m1R), stitch pick up around neckline, short row shaping at shoulders and sleeve caps, lace shaping (detailed charts for all sizes included), blocking, setting in sleeve caps, and I-cord BO.
